Distinctive Unit Insignia

Description

A silver metal and epoxied shield shaped device 1 1/4 inch (3.18cm) in height blazoned as follows: Tierce in pairle Gules, Argent and Azure, issuant from behind a mountain-top Argent, a demi-Philippine sun in splendor Or, overall a rod Sable entwined by a snake facing dexter Vert.  Attached below the shield, a black scroll inscribed “VICTORY THROUGH HEALING” in Silver.


Symbolism

The Philippine sun and flag represents the 29th Hospital Center’s activation on December 30, 1944. The snow-capped peaks of Mount Rainer symbolizes the unit’s time served in Seattle, Washington. The Rod of Asclepius is indicative of medical aid and exemplifies the unit’s motto, “VICTORY THROUGH HEALING.”
